Continued study of Uzbek language, with appropriate cultural background; further development of listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills. During the classes, the spoken language of native speakers, as well as the contemporary literary language used in newspapers, books and other mass media will be emphasized. The course will provide systematic presentation of more complex grammar and practical use of the language by stressing extensive practice in conversation, listening, reading, and writing. Students will be exposed to authentic materials such as video clips and pictures showing the real cultural life of the Uzbek people during the classes. By the end of the course, students should be able to hold a conversation on everyday topics in Uzbek and read and react to a variety of Uzbek texts, and deal with a variety of social situations.
