Arabic Individualized Instruction

As an alternative to taking Arabic through our classroom track, Arabic is offered for individualized instruction. Individualized instruction requires discipline and is ideal for students with a scheduling conflict, are heritage speakers of the language (with previous oral/aural exposure to the language) and/or non-traditional students that may be working full time. The Arabic II program is designed to follow the same syllabi as our classroom-track Arabic courses so that students will be able to move back and forth between II and classroom-track courses. Be aware that II students generally have less formal exposure to the language and may have fewer opportunities to speak and use the language communicatively. Therefore, it is vital that II students utilize the various resources available in the department to maximize their language exposure in addition to meeting the II Instructor.

Contract for Credit Adjustments

During the sixth week, students who intend to change the number of credit hours that they signed up for must sign a contractual agreement with the instructor which will specify the number of credit hours the student wants to complete. The contract is binding, i.e., the student must complete the specified number of hours; otherwise, a grade E will be assigned. NO incompletes will be given except for very compelling reasons and after submitting a letter to the instructor explaining the reasons.

If you do not sign your contract by the sixth week of the quarter:

The organization table (below) lists the minimum number of credit hours that can be completed for each learning module. If you do not complete a module, you will receive and incomplete for the quarter. Please note that even though the scheduling system will allow you to sign up for variable credits (1-5), you must register for the minimum number of credit hours for each course.

You can download the contract from this Web site http://wmcc.osu.edu/sbc_contracts.htm then fill it out, the teacher will sign it and you will then send it to your college for processing.

Deadlines

Students must adhere to the testing and homework deadlines that are listed on the module progress charts. If you miss a test or deadline to turn in homework, you may continue with the rest of the course work, but the missed homework and test score will count against your final class grade. Be prepared to take a test every two weeks throughout the quarter.
